Assembly Practice

For the last 2 weeks we have dedicated some time to rehearsing our assembly which will be held next Wednesday (16th March) at 09:00.  If you don't already know, see if you can guess the theme of our assembly.

Room 17 Assembly

Room 17 will be holding our assembly next Wednesday 16th March at 09:00 am in the undercover area.  Please ensure your child wears their faction shirt next Wednesday.

Problem Solving in Maths

It is important for students to be able to approach mathematical problems in a number of ways.  During our problem solving sessions, the children use material (counters, popsticks, cubes) and drawings to help them form a strategy for reaching a solution.  At the end of the lesson we discuss how effective their strategy was and if it helped them to find the answer.

Parent/Carer Information Session

There will be an information session for parents this coming Monday 8th February, 8 am in our classroom.  I hope you can make it.

Welcome to the new school year

I hope everybody enjoyed Christmas and the holiday period and now it's back to school again this Monday!  I look forward to meeting my new students and seeing a few friendly, familiar faces.

There will be a parent information session early in Term 2.  I will give you an overview of some of the topics we will be covering this year, and it is an opportunity to ask questions directly.  A letter will be sent home confirming the time and date.

Back to School for Term 4 and straight into Talk for Writing

In English the Room 17 students will be creating their own stories about conflict and war.  Before we get to that stage we looked at some historical objects provided by the Army Museum of Western Australia.

Here are photos showing some of the activities from last week's school camp.  We had a fantastic week and I really hope your children have told you all about the great fun they had.

Just a quick reminder to parents and carers that 3 Way conferences for Room 17 will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon next week (22nd, 23rd & 24th June).  There are currently 21 parents and carers who have used the online system to book their interview slot.  I strongly encourage everybody to participate in this opportunity to discuss your child's education.

Excellent Work

Should humans colonise Mars?  This has been the subject of our persuasive writing text this term.  The students were asked to design living quarters for people on Mars, and there were some fantastic creative designs.  Below is a picture of an outstanding piece of work by Abigail Graham.

Buddy Activities

Room 17 is buddies with Room 6 in Year 1.  This week we were completing our 'Space Buddy' pictures.  How focused everybody is!
